The traps are then forwarded to the Event Parser, where administrators can change and add various
attributes of the trap such as severity or the text message, as well as provide further parsers. Also sent to
the Event Parser are information only events about the activity of the AlliedView NMS.
Note: As with the Trap Parser, administrators should consult with Allied Telesis personnel before changing
attributes, such as severity, since this determines what will appear as alarms.
• Event Filter
Event Filters provides a way to setting a matching criteria to filter events and then configuring an action
(such as an email) for these events.
• Alarm Screen
The events that have a severity are considered alarms and are displayed on the alarm screen. To access the
alarm view, select the node Alarms from the NMS Tree to view the Alarms, as shown in the following fig-
ure The alarm screen is a table that lists all of the events that have a severity (or are Clear). The alarms can
be sorted by clicking on the column. Refer to the AlliedView NMS User Guide for details on navigating and
refining the view, as well as using the Search tool.
