Message Port Fault Set
Severity Major
Explanation This alarm indicates that no logical links have been discovered for
any ONU on the EPON interface.
Action Perform the following:
1. Verify that fiber is connected to the EPON interface.
2. Verify that ONUs are connected to the fiber.
3. If ONUs are connected to the fiber, make sure they are powered up.
4. Check to see if the fiber is defective. If so, replace fiber.
5. Check to see if the EPON card is defective. If so, replace EPON.

2.29.17 Loading Firmware
Message Port Fault Set
Severity Major
Explanation The EPON card software load file also contains firmware for both
the OLT and ONU. This alarm indicates that the firmware on the OLT
is being upgraded, as part of upgrading the EPON card’s software
load. Since the firmware upgrade occurs during the card upgrade
itself while the EPON interface is in the dependency state, the
user should never see this alarm.
