Explanation Some services that are carried across an MLPPP interface are espe-
cially sensitive to packet loss, thus action must be taken to move
traffic off of a physical interface without waiting for it’s
defects to soak into faults (typically 2.5 seconds). It is possible
for transient failures to cause the physical interface to be
removed from service while the “normal” alarms (e.g. LOS, LOF) are
never completely soaked, so this specialized alarm is raised on the
physical interface to immediately indicate to the user that it has
been removed from service.
