7.9.6.5 The Subscriber Using the Feature
Once the feature is activated, the subscriber can connect to the iMG over the web interface using the default id / password of
admin / admin. Although the subscriber at this point can change wireless parameters, it is recommended that the subscriber first
change the password for security.
Note: While the feature is activated, the NMS administrator cannot modify the wireless parameters. However, any
parameters changed by the subscriber are written to the NMS database; any backups made by the NMS
will therefore include the changed wireless parameters. This affects certain recovery scenarios as
explained below.
The subscriber as admin with default privileges can do the following on the device:
• Change wireless configuration parameters
• Admin > Change Password
• Admin > Save Configuration
• Security > MAC Filtering
• Admin > Reboot
With the feature up and running, the subscriber may be helped in the following scenarios
• Subscriber has forgotten the password and requests to have the password reset to the default (‘admin’)
The NMS administrator can reset the subscriber password by using the Service Management form. On the Mgmt. Info tab,
the New Subscriber User Password is set to admin, which is the only option.
It is not necessary to disable the feature to reset the password.
When this change is made, or any change is made by the subscriber, the subscriber will need to save the configuration so it
can be redeployed if the iMG should reboot.
• Subscriber requests wireless parameters to be reset to default
If the subscriber has made changes to the wireless parameters, but the CPE needs to be reset to the default configuration, the
NMS administrator can go to the iMG/RG -> Wireless tab, and click on Reset Wireless Parameters. This resets the wireless
parameters and restarts the CPE, as shown in the warning message.
• CPE needs to be restored from the latest backup file
If there is a hardware replacement of the iMG, or there has been a maintenance recovery scenario, the iMG should be
restored to the latest backup file.
