When you install an ATI network adapter card, and invoke the
installation program
setup17.exe
on the ATI distribution
diskette, all the files you need to effect the ODI installation are
loaded onto your hard drive.
1. Run CardAssistant (
setup17.exe
) and follow the
instructions for Install System Software, choosing
AT17ODI.COM
in the driver install field. CardAssistant, in
its default mode, creates a directory called
\NET
on the
workstation disk drive, copies
NET.CFG
,
NETX.EXE
,
AT17ODI.COM
,
IPXODI.COM
and
LSL.COM
files to that
directory.
2. While still in CardAssistant, enter the Configure I/O
Parameters window and configure the adapter card port.
Once the card’s port is configured, fill out the LAN
Management Summary inside the front cover of this
manual for future reference.
3. Exit CardAssistant.
4. Open the ASCII file
NET.CFG
with a text editor and verify
that the following lines are there:
Link Driver AT17ODI
Port
xxx
where
xxx
corresponds to the base I/O address (in hex) in
CardAssistant.
The word “Port” must be indented from the left
margin under the Link Driver line by at least one
space or one tab.
