Run Command
Action
Run Command Action Name Name of this action required for identification.
Run Command This is used to specify the actual command to be executed in the
NMS server machine. The command specified here should not
require a shell to run unless the shell program is specified in the
command.
Note: Some commands (i.e dir, ) in release 5.0 did not
require a command shell to run. In release 6.0, this
has changed; all commands requiring a shell must be
run within the command shell (i.e. unix k-shell /bin/
sh, windows 2000 cmd.exe). As an alternative, you
could put the commands in a shell script and then
run the script that contains the commands.
Command Results Append Output - This is one option under command results
which if selected implies that the output of the command
execution should be appended to the event message body.
Append Errors - This is another option under command results
which if selected implies that the errors of the command
execution should be appended to the event/alert message body.
Long messages or errors will be truncated.
Abort After This is used to specify the number of seconds that the command
is allowed to run and if the time specified here is reached while
the executed command is still running then it will be stopped.
This is important because this action can block all new events
while the command is executing.
