9.5.3 Setting Event Filter Actions
At least one action needs to be associated with the incoming filtered event. For an event filter, click on the Add button under
filter action to add one of the action Types:
Suppress Action: These filter actions allow you to suppress events that matches the filter criteria, either altogether or
multiple events of the same type within a given interval.
Send Trap actions: These filter actions allow you to send SNMP V1 traps for events matching particular filter criteria. The
traps can be configured to have event data as specified by you. It can be configured to be sent to any desired host.
Send Email actions: These filter actions allow you to send an email for events matching particular filter criteria.
Run command actions: These filter actions allow you to run a command on the server for events matching particular
filter criteria. These can be used to send a page to someone, email or any other desired command.
Run your own Java class filter: You can write your own Java code to filter events and perform actions, and configure
them to be applied for events matching particular filter criteria.
The configured action can be modified or deleted, although at least one action must be configured. The Update Filter option
updates all the information, while the Cancel Action option cancels any new values and disables the Action Type and Filter
Action Details panels.
Table 9-6 lists the fields that appear for each Action Type
Delete Filter
Icon
Allows a Filter Name to be deleted.
Update Filter Updates the Event Filter so it is ready to be applied to the NMS server.
Cancel File Cancels any changes made.
Apply Makes changes to the server.

Suppress Action Suppress Action Name Name of this action required for identification
Suppress All This specifies whether all events should be suppressed or only
suppress events based on interval. If ‘yes’ is selected then all
events are suppressed and if ‘no’ is selected then the user will
have an option to specify time interval for suppressing
subsequent received events matching the same criteria.
Suppress Interval This field is used for specifying the time interval (in seconds) to
suppress subsequent events.
