7.9.6 Split Management for Wireless iMG
7.9.6.1 Overview
This feature allows a subscriber (rather than an NMS administrator) to configure wireless parameters on wireless iMG
devices. This is done by accessing the web GUI that can be accessed on the device with a user ID / password.
The following devices work with this feature at iMG release 3-7_04 or above:
• iMG634WA/B
• iMG634WA/B-R2
• iMG616W
To access the wireless iMG, the subscriber will need a subscriber user ID and password; the user ID is provided, and the
subscriber will change the password from the default once the feature is activated.
As shown in the example, there are provisioning rules:
• On the General Profile, on the Port Assignments tab, the wireless port must be set to “Internet” services.
• On the Internet Services Profile, the internet service type must be set to “Routed Service”
• There is Rate Limiting (upstream only) on wireless devices that are 3-8 and above. It is controlled by the Internet Services
tab, Rate Limiting settings. Refer to 7.4.3.
• Part of provisioning includes the addition of management subnets the nms and split management subnets. For routed
service, after the first management subnet is added (such as sub1), two subnets are created automatically, nms and
split_management. If the internet service is bridged, only the nms subnet is created, and the management subnet must be
added manually. For this subnet, the customer IP address (assigned by DHCP or with a static address) should be known
by the NMS user.
