AlliedView NMS Administration Guide
1. The AlliedView Network Management System (NMS)
The NMS provides a powerful client for managing a network. It presents the network and its devices in a user-friendly way,
allowing you to quickly learn how the network is configured, how to reconfigure elements and how to spot problems before
they degrade network performance.
To set up the NMS product, you first need to install the NMS on a server. See the Allied Telesis™ AlliedView Network
Management System (NMS) Installation Guide for installation instructions. Once the AlliedView NMS software is installed, you
can query and control all aspects of the network with the NMS client.
1.1 AlliedView NMS Editions
The NMS provides two editions, the Service Provider Edition (SE) and the Enterprise Edition (EE). The SE provides the
complete feature set and the EE provides a partial set. The EE is intended for an enterprise customer managing a smaller
network with a limited number of devices. The EE includes all of the features in the SE except for customer provisioning of
voice, video, and data services.
The following table summarizes the main aspects of the Enterprise Edition version of NMS, with references to additional
information.
