Connect a Controller Via
the Serial Port
Channel 0 on a CompactLogix controller is fully isolated and does not need a
separate isolation device.
To connect a serial cable, perform this procedure.
1. Obtain a serial cable.
2. Connect the cable to your controller and workstation.
If you Then
Make your own cable a. Limit the length to 15.2 m (50 ft).
b. Wire the connectors.
c. Attach the shield to both connectors.
