OIL CHANGE (Cont’d)
3. Withtheengineinalevelposition,llwith
the recommended oil to the upper limit
mark on the oil level dipstick.
NOTE: Running the engine with a low
oil level can cause engine damage. The
oil senor will automatically stop the
engine before the oil level falls below
the safe limit. However, to avoid the
inconvenience of an unexpected
shutdown,lltotheupperlimitand
check the oil level regularly.
4. Reinstalltheoilllercapandoillevel
dipstick securely.
AIR CLEANER SERVICE
Adirtyairlterwillrestrictairowtothe
carburetor, reducing engine performance. If
you operate the engine in very dusty areas,
cleantheairltermoreoftenthanspeciedin
the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.
NOTE: Operating the engine without
anairlter,orwithadamagedairlter,
will allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear.
1. Unsnap the air cleaner cover clips, remove
the air cleaner cover and element.
2. Wash the element in a solution of household
detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly
orwashinanonammableorhighash
point solvent. Allow the element to dry
thoroughly.
3. Soak the element in clean engine oil and
squeeze out the excess oil. The engine will
smoke during initial start-up if too much oil
is left in the element.
4. Reinstall the air cleaner element and the
cover.
