ItmaybehelpfultobetterfamiliarizeyourselfwiththefeaturesofyourWoodChipper
beforebeginningthestepsoutlinedinthischapter.

orquestionarisesaboutthecorrectorsafemethodofperforminganythingfoundin
thismanual,pleasecontactthedealersinyourarea.
B. WhenoperatingtheWoodChipper,makesureyouarestandinginthesafeoperating
area(OPERATORZONE).Youmuststayinthesafeoperatingareaatalltimeswhen
theramisinmotion(whetherextendingorretracting).Neverplaceanypartofyour
bodyintoapositionthatcausesanunsafeoperatingcondition.
C. BeforeloadingandoperatingtheWoodChipper,alwayswearprotectivegear,
includingsafetygoggles,hearingprotection,tight-fittinggloveswithoutdrawstringsor
loosecuffs,andsteel-toedshoes.
D. KnowingthecorrectandincorrectmethodsofChippingwoods.Neverusingan
incorrectorunsafemethod.
Starting
1. PositionyourWoodChipperonflat,dryground,andthenstopthefrontwheelwith
brake,makesurethemachinecannotbemoved.
2. Makesurethefuelshut-offvalveisinthe “ON” position.
3. Movethechokecontrollevertothe “CHOKE” position(shouldonlybeneededifthe
engineiscold).
4. Movethethrottlecontrollevertothe “FAST” position.
5. RecoilStart:TurntheIgnitionSwitchtothe “On” position.Grasptherecoilstarter
handleandslowlypulluntilyoufeelresistance.Letthecordretractalittlebitthenpull
thecordrapidlytostarttheengine.Oneortwopullsusuallystartstheengine.
6. ElectricStart:TurnandholdtheKeyinthestartpositionuntilEnginestartsthenlet
theKeyreturntorunposition.
7. Movethechokecontrollever(ifusedforcoldengine)slowlybacktothe “RUN”
positionwhentheengineisrunningwell.
8. IftheWoodChipperhasnotbeenrunning(coldengine),warmuptheengineby
runningtheengineathalfthrottlefor3to4minutes,thenadvancetheenginethrottle
controltothemaximumspeed.
