SafetyforChildrenandPets
WARNING
Tragicaccidentscanoccuriftheoperatorisnotalerttothepresenceofchildrenandpets.
Childrenareoftenattractedtothemachineandthechippingactivity.Neverassumethat
childrenwillremainwhereyoulastsawthem.Alwaysfollowtheseprecautions:
A. Keepchildrenandpetsatleast50feetfromtheworkingareaandensuretheyareunder
thewatchfulcareofaresponsibleadult.
B. Bealertandturnthemachineoffifchildrenorpetsentertheworkarea.
C. NeverallowchildrentooperatetheWoodChipper.
SafetywithGasoline-PoweredMachines
WARNING
Gasolineisahighlyflammableliquid.Gasolinealsogivesoffflammablevaporthatcanbe
easilyignitedandcauseafireorexplosion.Neveroverlookthehazardsofgasoline.Always
followtheseprecautions:
A. Neverruntheengineinanenclosedareaorwithoutproperventilationastheexhaust
fromtheenginecontainscarbonmonoxide,whichisanodorless,tasteless,andadeadly
poisonousgas.
B. Storeallfuelandoilincontainersspecificallydesignedandapprovedforthispurpose
andkeepawayfromheatandopenflame,andoutofthereachofchildren.
C. Replacerubberfuellinesandgrommetswhenwornordamagedandafter5yearsof
use.
D. Fillthegasolinetankoutdoorswiththeengineoffandallowtheenginetocool
completely.Don'thandlegasolineifyouoranyonenearbyissmoking,orifyou'renear
anythingthatcouldcauseittoigniteorexplode.Reinstallthefueltankcapandfuel
containercapsecurely.
E. Ifyouspillgasoline,donotattempttostarttheengine.Movethemachineawayfrom
theareaofthespillandavoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilthegasvaporshave
dissipated.Wipeupanyspilledfueltopreventafirehazardandproperlydisposeofthe
waste.
F. Allowtheenginetocoolcompletelybeforestoringinanyenclosure.Neverstorea
machinethathasgasinthetank,orafuelcontainer,nearanopenflameorsparksuch
asawaterheater,spaceheater,clothesdryerorfurnace.
G. Nevermakeadjustmentsorrepairswiththeenginerunning.Shutdowntheengine,
disconnectthesparkplugwire,keepingitawayfromthesparkplugtoprevent
accidentalstarting,wait5minutesbeforemakingadjustmentsorrepairs.
H. Nevertamperwiththeengine’sgovernorsetting.Thegovernorcontrolsthemaximum
safeoperationspeedandprotectstheengine.Over-speedingtheengineisdangerous
andwillcausedamagetotheengineandtotheothermovingpartsofthemachine.If
