Operation (cont’d)
Spark Plug Service
In order to service the spark plug, you will need a spark plug wrench (commercially available).
Recommended spark pl
ugs: NHSP LD F7TC or NGKBPRGES but we recommend our OEM spark
plug. To ensure proper engine operation, the spark pl
ug must be properly gapped and free of
deposits.
1. Remove the spark pl
ug cap.
2. Use a spark pl
ug wrench to remove the spark plug.
3. Visually inspect the spark pl
ug. Discard it if the insulator is cracked or chipped. Clean the spark
pl
ug with a wire brush if it is to be reused.
4. Measure the pl
ug gap with a feeler gauge.
5. Check that the spark pl
ug washer is in good condition.
6. After the spark pl
ug is seated, tighten with a spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading.
7, After the spark pl
ug is seated, tighten with a spark plug wrench to compress the washer.
NOTE: THE SPARK PLUG MUST BE SECURELY TIGHTENED. AN IMPROPERLY
TIGHTENED SPARK PLUG CAN BECOME VERY HOT AND COULD DAMAGE THE
ENGINE. NEVER USE SPARK PLUGS WHICH HAVE AN IMPROPER HEAT RANGE.
USE ONLY RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUS OR EQUIVALENT.
