APPENDIX C: HDD INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Follow recommended electrostatic discharge (ESD) guidelines while performing this procedure. Install the HDD in a static-free
environment, wearing a certied ESD wrist strap. If a static free environment and ESD wrist strap is not available, touch the bare
metal of the DVR chassis frequently when installing the drive to dissipate the static charge naturally generated on your skin and
clothing and avoid touching electronic components.
6. For the initial HDD, attach a SATA cable and a power cable to the connectors on the HDD, then attach the other end of the SATA
cable to the HDD 1 SATA cable connector on the PC board.
7. Set the HDD in place in the chassis as shown below. Try to align the mounting screw holes on the underside of the HDD with
the screw holes in the bottom of the chassis.

8. While holding the HDD in place carefully turn over the HDD together with the chassis and install the four HDD mounting screws
provided to secure the HDD in place. Tighten the screws until snug. Be careful not to overtighten the screws.
9. Turn the chassis top side up and check to make sure the HDD cables connectors are seated properly at both ends.
10. If you are installing a second HDD, continue with the procedure in “C.3 Second HDD installation” on page 124.
11. Reinstall the NVR cover.
C.3 Second HDD installation
Installing a second HDD in the chassis is very similar to installation of the rst HDD. The dierences include the location where the
HDD is secured, SATA cable connection on the PC board, and concern about the routing of the front panel cables. If you didn’t install
the initial HDD in the chassis, become familiar with the procedure in “C.2 Initial HDD Installation” on page 122.
