The zigzag stitch is one of the most common
and versatile stitches. It can be a utility stitch
for button sewing, buttonhole making,
hemming, overcasting, mending and darning.
It can also be used to decorate with trims,
appliques and cut work, or as a decorative
stitch.
Basic Zigzag
q Stitch pattern: 3
w Presser foot: Zigzag foot
e Thread tension: 2 to 5
r Stitch length: 0.5 to 4
t Stitch width*: 1 or 5
Tricot Stitch
q Stitch pattern: 4
w Presser foot: Zigzag foot
e Thread tension: 1 to 4
r Stitch length: 0.5 to 1.5
t Stitch width*: 5
This stitch is used to finish the seam
allowance on synthetics and other fabrics
that tend to pucker. Place your fabric to allow
a 5/8˝ (1.6 cm) seam. Trim the seam
allowance after sewing.
Be careful not to cut the stitches.
