This device is a low power radio t ransm itt er and receiver. When it is ON, it receives
and also sends out radio frequency ( RF) signals. I n August 1996, t he Federal
Com m unicat ions Com m ission ( FCC) adopt ed RF exposure guidelines wit h safety
levels for m obile devices. Those guidelines are consist ent wit h safet y standards
previously set by both U.S. and int ernat ional st andards bodies: Am erican Nat ional
St andard I nst it ut e ( ANSI ) , Nat ional Council of Radiat ion Pr ot ection and Measure-
m ent s ( NCRP), and I nt ernat ional Com m ission on Non- I onizing Radiat ion Prot ection
( I CNRP) . Those standards were based on com prehensive and periodic evaluat ions
of t he relevant scient ifi c lit erature. The design of this device com plies wit h t he FCC
guidelines and applicable st andards.

FCC RF Ex posur e I nform at ion This device is a radio t ransm itt er and receiver. I t
is designed and m anufactured not t o exceed t he em issions lim it s for exposure t o
radio frequency ( RF) energy set by t he Federal Com m unications Com m ission ( FCC)
of t he U.S. Gover nm ent . These lim it s are part of com prehensive guidelines and es-
tablish perm itt ed levels of RF ener gy for t he general populat ion. These guidelines
are based on t he safet y st andards previously set by t he U.S. and int ernat ional
st andards bodies. The standards include a subst ant ial safet y m argin designed t o
assur e t he safet y of all persons, regardless of age and healt h.
The exposure st andard for wireless RF devices em ploys a unit of m easurem ent
know n as the Specifi c Absorpt ion Rate, or SAR. The SAR lim it set by t he FCC is 4
W/ kg. SAR values at or below t hat lim it are considered safe for t he general public.
The m axim um SAR value when operat ed in as a hand held device in accordance
wit h t his m anual is 1.31 W/ kg, which is below t he lim it set by t he FCC. Refer t o
