15.6 Auxiliary database failure recovery
Auxiliary database cluster performance may be degraded by the failure or poor
performance of a cluster member. You must return a failed or failing member to full
operation to prevent further cluster performance degradation.
Procedure 15-18 To recover a failed auxiliary database cluster
member
Perform this procedure when an auxiliary database cluster member requires service or
replacement because of performance degradation or failure.
1 If the auxiliary database station is completely unusable and requires replacement,
perform the following steps.
i Replace the station with a station that has the same platform specifications
and IP address.
ii Go to step 6.
2 Resolve the hardware or software fault on the auxiliary database station.
3 Log in to the auxiliary database station as the root user.
4 Open a console window.
5 Enter the following to uninstall the auxiliary database software:
# yum uninstall samauxdb samauxdbproxy samjre ↵
6 Enter the following to install the auxiliary database software:
# yum install samjre samauxdb samauxdbproxy ↵
7 Close the console window.
8 Perform the following steps on each main server in the 5620 SAM system.
i Log in to the main server station as the samadmin user.
ii Open a console window.
iii Enter the following:
bash$ /opt/5620sam/server/nms/bin/nmsserver.bash
samauxdb_config ↵
Caution — In the event that a member suffers a catastrophic failure
and the member station must be replaced, the replacement station
must have the same platform specifications and IP address as the
failed station.
Caution — If you need to recover multiple failed or failing cluster
members, you must perform this procedure once for each failed cluster
member.
