Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager 7-3
5620 SAM
System Administrator Guide
Auxiliary database cluster safeguards
The 5620 SAM monitors each member of an auxiliary database cluster, and raises
alarms for the following events:
• database or database proxy state change
• database or database proxy unavailability
• loss of one or more cluster members
7.2 Workflow for 5620 SAM database management
Viewing database properties and status
1 Display the 5620 SAM database properties; see Procedure 7-1.
2 Display the auxiliary database status using:
• a GUI client; see Procedure 7-2
• a CLI; see Procedure 7-3
Configuring database operation and security
3 As a security precaution, configure the number of failed Oracle database user
login attempts that the 5620 SAM allows before a user is locked out; see
Procedure 7-4.
4 Configure how the 5620 SAM responds to Oracle database errors; see
Procedure 7-5.
5 Configure size constraint policies to regulate the number of records retained in
the 5620 SAM database; see Procedure 7-6.
6 Configure ageout constraint policies to define a configurable ageout time for a
specific object type in the 5620 SAM database; see Procedure 7-7.
7 Manage 5620 SAM database disk usage by configuring policies to manage the file
size and number of archive log and core dump files; see Procedure 7-8.
8 Configure the statistics data retention period for the 5620 SAM database; see
Procedure 7-9.
Backup, restore, and general maintenance
9 Perform an immediate full or partial 5620 SAM database backup; see
Procedures 7-10 or 7-11.
10 Create auxiliary database cluster snapshots; see Procedure 7-12.
11 Schedule regular 5620 SAM database backups and auxiliary database cluster
snapshots; see Procedure 7-14.
12 Restore the 5620 SAM database in a standalone or redundant system; see
Procedures 15-21 and 15-22.
13 Recover a failed auxiliary database cluster member; see Procedure 15-18.
