System Administrator Guide
6.1 5620 SAM application overview
The 5620 SAM provides network management functions using browser-based
applications. The use of the 5620 SAM applications is intended mainly for network
fault monitoring and troubleshooting purposes. The applications are external to the
5620 SAM client GUI and do not require a local client installation.
There can be up to 50 concurrent application sessions.
6.2 Browser compatibility
The 5620 SAM applications are supported on the latest version of Mozilla Firefox
and Google Chrome, and the latest release of Internet Explorer.
Each application user must ensure that the browser path is configured in the user
preferences. See the 5620 SAM User Guide for more information.
6.3 User group access permissions
Access to the applications is controlled through 5620 SAM user groups. The default
admin user group can access all 5620 SAM applications. See chapter 2 for more
information about how to grant access permissions for applications to a user group.
6.4 Workflow to work with applications
The following workflow describes the high-level steps that you must perform to allow
access to a 5620 SAM application.
1 Create user groups and users, and grant permissions to the user group to access
the applications. See procedures 2-7 and 2-9.
2 For supervision applications, configure supervision groups. See Procedure 6-1.
3 For supervision applications, configure summary views. See Procedure 6-2.
4 For the Service Supervision application, enable the SAP Down State Cause KPI. See
Procedure 6-3.
5 For applications that can be launched from the 5620 SAM client GUI, ensure the
user specifies the path to the executable of a supported browser. See “To
configure 5620 SAM user preferences using the User Preferences form” in the
5620 SAM User Guide.
6.5 5620 SAM supervision application management procedures
Perform the following procedures to configure parameters and objects for
supervision applications.
