5 Disconnect the fiber optic cables.
i Unplug the fiber optic cable with SC/APC connector from the ONT; see
Figure 3-2 for the location of the fiber optic port.
ii Attach a fiber dust cover to the end of the SC/APC connector.
6 Replace the ONT with a new unit:
a On a flat surface, such as a desk, substitute the new ONT for the old ONT on
a flat surface, horizontally resting on its four feet.
b On a wall.
i Slide the old ONT off of the mounting screws until the ONT is free of the
wall.
ii Slide the wall mount holes on the ONT enclosure over the mounting
screws until it is securely seated.
7 Connect the Ethernet cables directly to the RJ-45 ports; see Figure 3-2 for the
location of the RJ-45 ports.
8 Connect the POTS cables directly to the RJ-11 ports as per local practices; see
Figure 3-2 for the location of the RJ-11 ports.
The RJ-11 port to the left is labeled 1 for Line 1 while the port on the right is
labeled 2 for Line 2.
Danger — Fiber cables transmit invisible laser light. To avoid eye
damage or blindness, never look directly into fibers, connectors, or
adapters.
