(5) Configuration with three or more ring nodes when using the Ring Protocol and STP together
If you use the Ring Protocol and STP together, a base can have one or more STP nodes but cannot have three
or more ring nodes for each STP node.

(6) Configuration with an STP BLK port on the ring when using the Ring Protocol and STP
together
When you use the Ring Protocol with STP, you cannot place an STP BLK port on the ring. The Ring Protocol
always determines the status of ring ports (FWD or BLK). Therefore, you cannot define an STP BLK port for
any node on the ring. Each node in the ring has an initial value of the STP root bridge or of the second priority.
Figure 4.1-6 Configuration with an STP BLK port on the ring
If you use the Ring
Protocol with STP, a base
can only have two ring
nodes per STP node.
The
other configurations are not
supported.
Therefore, you cannot
configure a ring with three
or more ring nodes as
shown in the left section in
the figure.

If you use the Ring
Protocol with STP, you
cannot define an STP BLK
port on the ring.
For the FWD/BLK status
in the ring, the Ring Protocol
takes precedence over STP,
so the status will be FWD if
the Ring Protocol
determines the status as
FWD even after STP
determines as BLK.
Therefore, do not define
any STP BLK ports on any
nodes in the ring.
