(7) The maximum number of multi-rings must be taken into account.
If a chassis-type switch (AX6700S/AX6300S series product) is the master node of a shared link
non-monitoring ring, the maximum number of configurable multi-rings on the device is less than 16.
Specifically, a shared link non-monitoring ring with the chassis-type master node is counted as two rings.
For example, when a device is also configured as the master node of a shared link non-monitoring ring, you
can configure a maximum of eight multi-rings for that device.
Shown below is an example of such a configuration.
Figure 3.2-5 Master node configuration in shared link non-monitoring rings
In the figure above, if device A is a chassis-type switch, the number of configurable rings for device A can be
calculated as follows:
16 - Ring1 - (Ring2, Ring3, Ring4) x 2 = 9
When a chassis-type switch is used as a master node for multiple rings, you need to consider this restriction
and be careful about the device capacity for rings.
On the other hand, if a box-type switch is the master node of a shared link non-monitoring ring, the ring is
counted as one ring (no restriction like the one above). In the example of Figure 3.2-5, if device A is a box-type
switch, you can configure four more rings (that is, the maximum number of configurable rings of 8 - the number
of used rings of 4).
