3.1.1 System configuration example
Figure 3.1-3 shows a configuration example of a relatively small-sized system. In this example, only box-type
devices are used to build the backbone network, and forwarding between access and distribution switches is
basically performed on Layer 2.

AX2400S series switches are used for the core switch and the switches on each floor (which correspond to
distribution switches). The terminals of each floor and the server belong to the same VLAN, that is, the same
subnet.
The core device is the master node of the ring so that the device works differently than other devices on each
floor.
If you want to communicate between VLANs (subnets) or communicate with an external network, you need to
place an L3-relay device outside of the ring.
