5. INSTALLATION
Preparation
Read all directions before starting work. Proper surface
preparation is crucial to achieving a successful application.
1. Remove all loose or unsound materials. Thoroughly clean
surface of dirt, dust, grease, paint, or other contaminants
before patching, topping, or placing overlays.
2. Use only when the product, air and surface temperatures are
between 40°F-80°F (4°C-27°C) within 48 hours of application.
For best results keep material cool and out of direct sunlight
prior to application. Protect repair from freezing for 72 hours.
3. Enlarge hole or crack to ½ in. (1.3 cm) or greater width and
depth, make hole/crack bigger at back than on the front
surface, this allows the Instant Water Stop to lock into place
as it expands while setting. Avoid V-shape cuts.
4. IF SURFACE IS DRY, PRE-WET JUST PRIOR TO
APPLICATION OF PRODUCT.
Note: It is the responsibility of the installer/applicator to ensure
the suitability of the product for its intended use.
Mixing
1. Use cool, potable water, clean tools and clean containers. No
bonding additive is needed.
2. MIX ONLY THE AMOUNT THAT CAN BE APPLIED WITHIN
2-3 MINUTES. Warmer temperatures will reduce working
time. The use of cold water at high temperatures or warm
water at low temperatures will aid in adjusting the set time.
3. Mix approximately one part water to four parts Instant Water
Stop. Mixing small batches of 4 - 4½ oz. (113-170 g) of
powder into 1 oz. (28 g) of water is ample for filling most
holes. Always add the powder into the liquid to avoid lumps.
Consistency should be stiff, but thoroughly mixed with no
materials left dry. Typical mixing time is ±30 seconds.
Application
1. After mixing is completed, immediately apply material with
trowel or gloved hands. Wear proper protective gloves (butyl
or nitrile) at all times, failure to do so can result in severe
burns.
2. Hold in place for 3 to 5 minutes with light pressure when
plugging a hole with actively flowing water.
3. The mixed Instant Water Stop can also be placed in a small
plastic bag, while holding close to the hole, turn the bag
inside-out and force the mixed product quickly into the hole
from the bag.
4. When repairing inactive leaks with no running water present,
thoroughly dampen the area being patched prior to
application.
5. After 3 to 5 minutes, Instant Water Stop will be firm enough
to shave using a steel trowel. Shave small amounts at a time
to make flush with the surrounding surface.
Curing
Product should be air-cured, no curing compounds are needed.
Repair can be painted with latex masonry paint once repair has
cured a minimum of 14 days and area remains dry.
Clean Up
Use soapy water to clean hands and tools immediately after
use. Dried material must be mechanically removed. Use a
waste water hardener (e.g. Congelz
®
or similar product) for
cementitious waste disposal.

expands when set and locks into place to block flowing water
in 3 to 5 minutes. For use only on concrete and masonry
materials. Best for repairing leaks in cracks between blocks or
on one surface, not for stopping water flow in corners.
