About This Manual
The instructions in this manual al_ for models
HT-6500DP, HT-5500D and HT-1700D. Check your
model number by looking at the lower right corner of
the front panel. In this manual, the STR-Kg40P is
used for illustration purpose unless s_a{ed otbel_vvise.
Any difference in operation is clearly indicated in the
text, for example, "HT-6500DP only".
The HT.6500DP consists of:

About area codes
The al_a code of the receiver you pm_hased is
shown on _he lower _r_ion of the rear panel (see
the illustration below

Any differences in operation, according to the
area code, ale clearly indicated in the texh for
example, "Models of al_a code AA only".
Till
The instructions ill this manual describe tile controls
on the receiver. You can also use the controls on the
supplied remote if they have the same or similar
names _s those on the receiver, For details on the use
of your remote, see pages 37 - 43 for RM-PP41 !
(HT-65(gIDP and HT-5500D only) and pages 44 - 47
for RM-U306 (HT- 1700D only). For details on lhe
use of your DVD play el; refer _o the separate
operating instructions supplied wi_h the DVD player.
Note for the supplied remote
For RM-PP411 (HT-6500DP and
HT-5500D only)
The VIDEO 3, TV/SAT, PHONO, AUX,
SOURCE, MPX/DUAL, ANALOG DIRECT,
12 and ON SCREEN buttons on the remote _we
not avail_ble.
For RM-U306 (HT-1700D only)
The MULTI CH button on the remote is not
avail_ble.
Demonstration Mode
The demonstration will activ3te _he fil_t time you
turn on the power. When the demonstration stalts,
the following message appears in the displ_y:
"NOW DEMONSTRATION MODE IF
YOU FINISH DEMONSTRATION
PLEASE PRESS POWER KEY WHILE
THIS MESSAGE APPEARS IN THE
DISPLAY THANK YOU"
TO cancel the demonstration
Press I/(_) _o turn the receiver off while the above
message is being displayed. The next time you
mm the receiver on, the demonstration will not
appear.
TO view the demonstration
Hold down SET LIP and pl_sS I/(_) to turn on the
towel\
Notes
Running the demonstration will clear lhe
receiver's memol2€. For details on what will be
cleal_d, see "Clearing the receiver's memory"
on page 15.
Thel_ will be no sound when tile demonstration
mode is acfi valed.
Yott cannot cancel demonstration if you did not
pl_ss I/(_) while the above message is being
displayed. To cancel demonstration after the
above message appears, press I/(_) twice to
activate the demonstration again. Then, press
I/(_) while the andre message is being
displzyed.
