On operation About CD-Rs/CD-RWs • If the player is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, or is placed in a very damp room, moisture may condense on the lens inside the CD player section. Should this occur, the player will not operate properly. In this case, remove the CD and wait about an hour for the moisture to evaporate. • If the player has not been used for a long time, set it in the playback mode to warm it up for a few minutes before inserting a cassette.
Setting the clock Before use When the AC power code is connected for the first time, the clock display flashes. Set the time while the power is on. To turn on the player 1 2 Press OPERATE to turn on the player. Hold down CLOCK until the hour flashes. Press OPERATE. After using the player, press it to turn off. The clock display appears on the display. • Pressing SLEEP also turns on the player with the sleep timer on. To select the functions Set the function switch to TAPE, RADIO or CD.
A RADIO OPERATION 1 2 Select RADIO with the function switch. 3 Tune in a station with TUNING. Press E BAND repeatedly to select the desired band, FM or AM. B 1 2 CD OPERATION Select CD with the function switch. Press PUSH OPEN to open the CD compartment and place the CD. Place the CD with the label side up. For better reception FM AM FM Extend the telescopic antenna and orient it for the best reception. AM The antenna is inside the player. Position the player for the best reception.
Programmed play You can arrange the playing order of up to 30 tracks on a CD. Tip You can repeat the programmed play. After programming, press REPEAT to display “[”. To check the program 1 2 Select CD function and place the CD. In stop mode, press PROGRAM. In stop mode, press r or t repeatedly. The programmed track and its program number are displayed in order. “PROG” flashes in the display. 3 Press r or t to select a track. C TAPE OPERATION • Use Type I (normal) tapes only. • The player plays (records on) the side facing up. Recording on a tape 1 Playing a tape 1 2 Then close the compartment. Select TAPE with the function switch. Press sz STOP/EJECT to open the cassette compartment and insert a recorded tape. Press sz STOP/EJECT to open the cassette compartment and insert a blank tape. 2 Get ready to record from the source. To record from a CD, select CD with the function switch and load the CD.
D TIMER OPERATION Timer playback/Alarm You can turn on the player at a specified time every day with the built-in timer, and you can also use the player as an alarm clock. Make sure the clock is set correctly. 1 2 Press OPERATE to turn on the player. Select the function, CD, RADIO or TAPE. CD or RADIO: The selected source starts playback at a specified time. TAPE: The player can be used as an alarm clock. Beep sound rings at a specified time. 3 Hold down ALARM/TIMER until the hour flashes.
TIMER OPERATION Snooze function Sleep timer When turning on the player by the timer playback or alarm function, the snooze function can be available. You can turn off the player automatically at a specified time. Press SNOOZE when the timer playback starts or the alarm beeps. 1 2 Playback or alarm stops temporarily and starts again after 5 minutes. • The snooze function can be repeated up to 6 times. Press SLEEP. Within 4 seconds, press r or t to specify the timer-activated period.

Additional information Troubleshooting Radio General The audio is weak or has poor quality. The power is not on. • Replace all the batteries with new ones if they are weak. • Move the player away from the TV. • Connect the AC power code to a wall outlet securely. • Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly. The picture of your TV becomes unstable. The power is not on, and “Er” and “bAtt” are displayed.
Tape player The player does not move when you press an operation button. • Close the cassette compartment securely. The w REC does not function. • Make sure the cassette tab for the side is not broken (see page 3). The player does not erase completely. • Clean the erasing head. • Replace all the batteries with new ones if they are weak. • The source which was recorded on TYPE II (high position) or TYPE IV (metal) tape by this unit is being played. Record on TYPE I (normal) tape and play.
