Dual Flow and Pediatric/Low Flow Options
The following information will explain the 8 liter dual ow and pediatric/low ow options for the NewLife
®
Intensity Oxygen Concentrator.
Dual Flow Application
The NewLife
®
Intensity unit’s 8-liter dual ow option allows a single concentrator to meet the high
ow requirements of a 8 lpm patient or the needs of two patients, in any combination of ows up
to 8 lpm (Figure I.3). Excellent for use in the home, extended care facility, hospital or physician’s
waiting room.
Pediatric/Low Flow Application
The pediatric owmeter (available for use with the dual ow NewLife
®
Intensity unit) meets low ow
requirements up to 2 lpm in 1/8 liter (125 ccm) increments.
Setting the Pediatric Flowmeter
When using a pediatric owmeter, the unit will not reach concentration at the pediatric setting (less than
2 lpm) until a portion of the oxygen is bled off by opening the primary owmeter (on the left side of the unit).
Follow the procedure below when using the pediatric owmeter.
1. Follow the start-up instructions.
2. Set the pediatric owmeter to the prescribed ow.
3. Set the primary owmeter to 2 lpm to bleed off excess product, and allow the unit to
achieve maximum concentration.
