What is a split system air conditioner
or heat pump?
Airquest split system air conditioners and heat pumps are
designed for the best durability and comfort. Properly
matched combinations of an outdoor unit and a separate
indoor unit can be customized to provide air conditioning,
heat pump heating, gas heating, and/or electric heating.
By combining the appropriate indoor unit with a matching
outdoor unit, various combinations of cooling and heating
methods can be created for the optimal combination of
comfort, efficiency and economy.

of our air conditioners and heat pumps include comfort

Efficiency ratings—what do they mean?
Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER)— Measures the cooling
efficiency of air conditioners and heat pumps during an average cooling
season. The higher the SEER, the greater the energy economy.
Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF)— Measures
the heating efficiency of heat pumps. The higher the HSPF, the greater the
efficiency and energy savings potential during heat pump heating.
Energy Efficiency Rating (EER)— Measures the cooling efficiency
of air conditioners and heat pumps during a set temperature (95° F).
ENERGY STAR
®
— A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program
to identify and promote energy-efficient products in order to reduce
energy consumption.
On January 1, 2015, a new set of minimum efciency standards took effect. Under the new standards,
there are different efciency minimums for air conditioners in each of three regions—North, Southeast
and Southwest. The national minimum efciency standard for heat pumps is 14 SEER/8.2 HSPF.
