+0x0072 Diversity u16 0 default 0x0303 This field is bit-mapped to select the operational
antennas.
The lower byte selects active receive antennas. The
upper byte selects active transmit antennas.
0 = Diversity as programmed at the factory
1 = Antenna 1 only
2 = Antenna 2 only
3 = Antennas 1 and 2 are active
+0x0074 TransmitPower u16
(mw)
0 default 250 or
100
0 selects the default (maximum power allowed for the
country/regulatory domain).
0 = As programmed at the factory
1-50 = 50 mw output (if not available, first available
lower power level is used)
51-100 = 100 mw output (if not available, first
available lower power level is used)
101-250 = 250 mw output
+0x0076 u16 0 default 0 No longer valid
+0x0078 Modulation Type u16 0 default 1 4800 only: Selects between MOK and CCK
modulation.
1 = MOK
2 = CCK

return invalid command).
Additional information on the configuration elements follows:
The PC4500/4800 may be configured to operate as a station (either within an ESS while associated to an
AP or within an IBSS/adhoc network), to operate as part of an access point or repeater or to operate as a
wireless LAN monitor. It is important to recognize that when operating in infrastructure mode, some
parameters (such as hop sequences) are adopted from the access point.
The correct order to configure a PC4500/4800 is to read the current configuration, make modifications as
necessary, disable the MAC, write the new configuration, re-enable the MAC.
Station Operation
In station mode (ESS or IBSS), only data packets will be transferred to and from the host. No
802.11 native packets (management and control) will be passed to the host. All 802.11
management and control packets are handled by the PC4500/4800. It is recommended that the
802.3 header be used to pass transmit and receive packets between the host and PC4500/4800.
This is easier for the host and more efficient. The host doesn’t need to interpret or create an
802.11 header for each packet. The host can transfer the packets as is -- destination and source
addresses, and packet payload.
Station ESS Operation
In station mode, the PC4500/4800 will scan for an appropriate wireless network, and then
associate to an access point. The PC4500/4800 will accept transmit packets at any time, even if
