Troubleshooting and Performance 4 - 3
If you’re unable to communicate with some or all nodes on the Radio
Network
Check to be certain that the Device Driver is loaded properly. (see
Chapter 1 - Client Card Installation
and
Chapter 2 - Client Card
Driver Installation
).
Check that the Workstation is not out of radio range with other
nodes on the Radio Network (see
Performance Tips
).
Make sure the Client Card’s antenna is attached and is not shielded
by surrounding metal, or otherwise poorly positioned. (see
Perfor-
mance Tips
.)
Make sure the SID and Data Rate/Frequency/Channels settings are
the same for all nodes on the Radio Network. Check the driver con-
figuration files (PROTOCOL.INI and NET.CFG) for proper settings.
Run the ARLANDGS.EXE or WinDGS.EXE diagnostics to confirm
the hardware con-nections.
If the System operation is slow or you are receiving numerous network
time-out errors
Run the ARLANDGS.EXE or WinDGS.EXE utility and perform a Link-
test to check the link quality between nodes on the Radio Network.
If results are marginal, then either the antenna placement is poor or the
path loss is too high. If the Linktest results are good, check to make sure
the network traffic load is not too high. (see
Performance Tips
.)
Error Messages
Error messages inform you when there is a problem with the software or
the Client Card.
If you get an error message, write down the message and any instruc-
tions the message might offer to remedy the situation. This information
will be helpful to the Technical Support personnel should you need to
call for assistance. Shown below are some of the more common error
messages you may receive.
