3 - 32 Aironet PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter
Menu Descriptions
The Linktest menu contains the following options which can be left at
default or edited. Keep in mind that when you first run ARLANDGS the
default values are used for the linktest. If you edit these values, exit the
Linktest menu, and then re-enter, the values shown will be those that
were last set, not the defaults. The only exception is the default Destina-
tion Address, which is updated on restart into the Linktest.
Packet Length (default 512 bytes)
The default packet length of 512 data bytes is the recommended setting.
The length of the packet can be set between 1 to 1500 bytes.
Number of packets to send (default 100)
The range of packets that can be sent is 0 to 9999. You can increase the
accuracy of the Linktest by increasing the number of packets. It is not
recommended that you send less than 100 packets.
Destination
The default destination address is a broadcast address and must be used
when in ARLAN mode. In Non-ARLAN mode, you can specify the
address of a specific target node (another Aironet Client Card only).
Pause time between each repetition (default 3 seconds)
If running the Linktest repeatedly, the pause time between tests can be
set from 1 to 9999 seconds. (see
Perform Linktest/Continuous Linktest).
Number of packets per each statistics update (default 5)
While the Linktest is running, the screen displays updated statistical
information regarding the link performance. You can adjust how often
this display is updated, within a range of 1 to 9999 seconds.
Perform Linktest/Continuous Linktest
If the Linktest is run once, it will stop after the specified number of
packets are sent. In continuous mode, the Linktest runs continuously
until it is aborted by pressing Control-C. A Continuous Linktest also
shows the regular linktest statistics, plus cumulative statistics. It is a
good idea to run the Linktest several times to ensure that the link quality
is consistent and repeatable.
