Utilities 3 - 25
Fast Poll Decay - Controls how fast polling slows down after a non-
empty data packet is either received or transmitted. It sets the number of
polls that are sent before the Poll Rate Backoff is doubled. The Poll Rate
Backoff will not increase beyond the Poll Period. Values can be entered
in Decimal Mode or Hexadecimal Mode. The value 0 causes a decay of 2
to be used.
Setting DDP Parameters
Use the DDP parameters to configure the DDP (Datagram Delivery Pro-
tocol).
These parameters affect maximum retries and maximum data-
gram size. These parameters apply to all registration modes and
should only be modified by experienced users
. When you select DDP
Parameters, the following Window appears.
Menu Descriptions
Maximum Retries - Only used in ARLAN and PSP registration modes.
Sets the maximum number of times that the Aironet Client Card will
retransmit a packet without getting an acknowledgment from the desti-
nation Router. If an acknowledgment is not received before the maxi-
mum retry count is reached, then the packet transmission fails. Values
can be entered in Decimal Mode or Hexadecimal Mode. The value 0
causes 16 retries to be used. The minimum recommended setting is 4.
Max. Datagram Size - Sets the maximum number of bytes allowed in
received and transmitted datagrams. Since received datagrams are
placed in fixed size internal buffers, reducing the maximum size
increases the number of received datagrams that can be buffered. Values
can be entered in Decimal Mode or Hexadecimal Mode. The value 0
causes the maximum of 2048 to be used. The minimum recommended
setting is 1600.
