3 - 20 Aironet PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter
Setting Root or Repeater Mode
The Mode parameter is not required for the Aironet Client Card.
Establishing a Device Name
The Device Name parameter is used to establish a 15-byte ASCII name
for the Aironet Client Card. The Device Name is optional and may be
left blank.
If you choose to assign a name, and you are operating in ARLAN mode,
the name will appear in the Aironet Access Point’s Registration Table.
Duplicate names are allowed.
To have the system generate an automatic name, click once on AUTO
with the mouse, or press F10.
Setting the MAC (Media Access Control) Priority
Use the Priority parameter to set the priority of the Aironet Client
Card’s Radio MAC to —normal, high or highest. The higher the priority
set, the more likely this unit will be first to successfully transmit a
packet when multiple units are trying to transmit at the same time.
The percentage of units on your Network that you set to other than “nor-
mal” should be kept small—10 percent or less.
Setting the Radio Parameters
Use the Radio Parameters to select a Channel Number or Bitrate and
Frequency. When you select the Radio parameters a window similar to
the following appears.
