Installing the SIM
TheSubscriberIdentityModule(SIM)intheRavenXEisa 
smartcardthatsecurelystoresthekeyidentifyingacellular
subscriber.Generally,youwillonlyneedtoinstallaSIMonce
inthelifeofthemodemanditmaybepre‐installedbyyour
SierraWirelessRepresentative.
1. Before you start
IftheSIMwaspre‐installed,unlessyouneedtosetacustom
APN,activationofyourmodemiscomplete.
Cellular Account Required
• CellularAccountRequired‐Touseyourmodem,you
needtohaveaSIMwithanactiveaccountinadata plan,
withyourcellularprovider(EDGE o rHSUPA/HSDPA).
Software Required
• AceManager‐GraphicalinterfaceforenteringmostAT
Commands.YoucandownloadAceManagerfromthe
SierraWirelessAirLinkSolutionswebsite:http://
www.sierrawireless.com/support/.Adefaultinstallationof
thisutilityisassumedlaterinthesedirections
Hardware Required
• Ethernetcable‐AnEthernetcableisrequired.
Note: Until you install a driver for the USB port, you cannot use your
USB port to configure the modem.
• Poweradapterandapowersource‐Youwillneeda
powersupplyandpowersourceforthemodem.
• PCorlaptop‐Toconfigurethemodem,youwillneeda
computerwithanavailableEthernetportserialport.
