5- Insert the provided filter opener/key at the “Open Here” locations along the frame that are
opposite the hinged side of the filter frame. Inserting it closer to the corners will ensure the
frame will not be bent during opening. Rotate the tool and the frame will separate easily.
Perform the same at the other corner locking tab closure.
6- Remove old media and NOTE the orientation of the center screen.
7- Install new filter media on the power head side. The filter media MUST be installed under
the power lead on the power head side.
NOTE
The media on the power head side MUST be installed under the power head output lead so that
the center screen will contact the lead and energize the center screen.
8- Lay the center screen such that the splined side (screen is closer to the edge of the frame)
is oriented correctly and contacts the power head output lead. A “This Side Up” label is
normally provided. Confirm that the center screen frame fits uniformly inside the outside
screen frame.
9- Install the second filter media pad on the other outside screen.
10- Hold the media pads in place while closing the outside screens together.
11- After confirming the alignment and absence of binding, snap the corners together until a
definitive “click” of the closures is heard.
12- Install the filter in the ductwork filter framework
13- Energize the filter by plugging the power head supply wire into the power head jack
location. The green power available light should illuminate.
CAUTION
NEVER energize the electronic filter with the filter open. ALWAYS unplug the filter at the jack
on the filter power head before opening the electronic filter.
NOTE
Some arcing may occur during initial power-up but should cease after 10 seconds.
14- If applicable – reinstall any covers.
15- Ensure that the 24 vac power lead wire is not being pinched or in a position to be damaged
by any cover that may exist.
16- Write the filter media pad change date on the filter pad change sticker.
17- Dispose of the dirty filters.
18- Turn the thermostat and the furnace/air handler power to the as-found positions.
Electronic Filter Screen Cleaning
Should the inside or outside screens become excessively dirty it may be necessary to gently
vacuum them or brush them off with a soft brush or cloth. This is best done outdoors.
CAUTION
NEVER spray water on the electronic filter.
NEVER submerse the filter in water.
