CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

CHECKING CLUTCHING V-BELT TENSION

• Disconnect spark plug wire.

• Remove left side panel from Engine Mounting Plate.

• Place the Mower Blade Clutch Lever in the

"ENGAGED" position.

• Check spring tension. (Refer to Fig. 11, page 20.)

• Tension is correct if there is a 5/8 to 7/8 inch gap

between the spring clip and the trunnion of the

spring rod.

• If gap is not 5/8 to 7/8 inch, and adjustment will be

required.

ADJUSTING CLUTCHING V-BELT TENSION

TO INCREASE CLUTCHING V-BELT TENSION:

• Place Mower Blade Clutch Lever in the

"DISENGAGED" position.

• Loosen the Outer Nut of the Clutch Cable. (See

Fig. 12)

• Tighten the Inner Nut to increase spring tension.

NOTE: For every 1/8 inch of adjustment made to the

Cable you will increase the gap between the Ring Clip

and the Trunnion by 1/8 inch.
