IP Address This value is the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the
instrument. An IP address is required for all IP and TCP/IP
communications with the instrument. An IP Address
consists of 4 decimal numbers separated by periods. Each
decimal number ranges from 0 through 255. If the IP
Address is changed, the instrument must be rebooted for
this change to be effective. Factory setting = 169.254.57.0
Subnet
Mask
This value is used to enable the instrument to determine if a
client IP address is on the same local subnet. When a client
IP address is on a different subnet, all packets must be sent
to the Default Gateway. If the Subnet Mask is changed, the
instrument must be rebooted for this change to be effective.
Factory setting = 255.255.255.0
Default
Gateway
This value is the IP Address of the default gateway that
allows the instrument to communicate with systems that
are not on the local subnet, as determined by the subnet
mask setting. If the Default Gateway is changed, the
instrument must be rebooted for this change to be effective.
Factory setting = 0.0.0.0, which indicates that no default
gateway is defined.
DNS DNS is an internet service that translates domain names
into IP addresses. This parameter indicates whether the IP
address of the Domain Name System (DNS) server is
obtained automatically or manually. If the parameter is set
to Auto, the DNS server address is obtained from DHCP. If
the parameter is set to Manual, the DNS server in the
following field is used.
DNS Server This value is the address of the Domain Name System
(DNS) server. If DHCP is disabled, the DNS server parameter
is needed for the instrument to be able to find and display
its hostname.
Naming
service
This parameter specifies the Naming service, if any, to be
used to register the instrument. NetBIOS indicates the
instrument will be registered using the RFC NetBIOS
naming protocol. Dynamic DNS indicates the instrument will
be registered using the Dynamic DNS naming system.
Hostname This field registers the supplied name with the selected
naming service. If the field is left blank, then no name is
registered. A hostname may contain upper and lower case
letters, numbers and dashes(-). The maximum length is 15
characters. The factory default is A-modelnumber-
serialnumber. Modelnumber is the instrument’s 6-character
model number, and serialnumber is 5th through the 9th
character of the 10-character serial number located on the
label on the side of the unit.
