Dynamic Range and Offset Voltage Limitations

With the N2795A/96A active probes offering 16 Vpp (+/-8V) of dynamic range and

+/-12V (N2796A) or +/-8V (N2795A) of offset range, the probes have a wide

measuring range of +/-20V, allowing them to be used for a wide variety of

applications. For example, if you wanted to measure small AC noise riding on top of

a +10V DC signal, you could use the DC offset feature to position the signal at the

center of the screen to keep the probe within its dynamic range. You could then

zoom in to see the detail at a higher resolution. Trying to measure a signal out of the

dynamic range may result in a clipped or distorted waveform.
