Theory of Operation
This chapter describes the basic structure of the oscilloscope and how the parts interact.
The oscilloscopes are comprised of five or six main assemblies, depending on the model
of the oscilloscope: a motherboard assembly, an acquisition assembly, a backplane
assembly, a front panel assembly, and a power supply assembly for all models, plus a
Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (MSO) assembly for all MSO models. Figure 7- 1 shows a block
diagram of the oscilloscope.
