Troubleshooting Plug-
in Modules
If a "LQVWHDGRIDQXPHULF and one or more INOP messages are displayed for the
CO
2
module, perform the following actions:

6WHS Perform a Self-Test (See Performing the CO2 Module Self-Test on page 5-44). If
the CO
2
test numerics read exactly the listed values, proceed to the next step, if not,
replace the module.
6WHS Refer to the following table. Correct the possible cause identified by the INOP
message and verify that the INOP disappears. If the problem still exists, replace the
module.

UNPLUGGED CO
2
module is unplugged from
the rack.
Perform Step 5 on page 5-21.
CO
2
EQUIPM MALF Malfunction in the transducer or
module.
Replace transducer. If INOP persists
replace module.
CO
2
NO TRANS-
DUCER
No Transducer is connected to the
module.
Connect transducer to module.
Run a calibration as described in CO
2
Module section of the 8VHUV5HIHUHQFH
0DQXDO.
(If the transducer is replaced, the new
transducer must be re-calibrated.)
CO
2
FAILED CAL Calibration aborted due to power
failure, unstable signal during
calibration, or transducer being
placed on the wrong cal cell.
Run a calibration as described in CO
2
Module section of the 8VHUV5HIHUHQFH
0DQXDO.
Make sure that calibration cell is
changed when prompted.
If INOP persists replace module.
CO
2
SENSOR WARM
UP
The transducer has not reached
operating temperature.
Wait until transducer has warmed up.
CO
2
CAL RUNNING The CO
2
calibration is running. Wait until calibration is finished.
CO
2
CAL MODE Cal mode is set but the calibration
has not been initiated.
Perform accuracy check or start a cali-
bration as described in CO
2
Module sec-
tion of the 8VHUV5HIHUHQFH0DQXDO.
CO
2
CHECK CAL CO
2
value <-2mmHg,
>150mmHg.
Perform accuracy check for low and
high calstick cell as described in CO
2
Module section of the 8VHUV5HIHUHQFH
0DQXDO.
CO
2
REDUCE SIZE ETCO
2
>60mmHg in 40mmHg
wave scale.
Select the 60 mmHg scale. This enables
the full wave to be displayed.
CO
2
LOW FLOW Sidestream flow between 50-80
ml for up to 10 minutes. CO
2
val-
ues may not be accurate.
Replace tubing.
