3 Power the signal generator on.
4 Adjust the signal generator’s output level to approximately
–70 dBm.
5 Connect the signal generator to the RF antenna (TNC)
connector of the scanner.
Testing the Scanner
1 Start the E6474A software.
2 Refer to “Identifying the Devices" on page 94, and perform
the procedure if you have not already done so.
3 In the High Speed Scanner Properties dialog box, add several
channels to the scan list. Choose channels at the low end,
high end, and middle of the channel range. Click Help in the
dialog box for instructions.
4 Click View > Scanner Table to open the view.
5 Click Log > Start Live Mode.
6 Adjust the signal generator to the frequency that
corresponds to the lowest channel you have selected.
7 Check the signal strength indicated in the Scanner table
view.
8 Adjust the signal generator to the frequency that
corresponds to each of the other channels that you have
added to the scan list, while checking the signal strength
indicated in the view.
Passing the Test
Verify that the level indicated in the Scanner Table view is
reasonably close to the generator output, considering the
number of cable connections and losses. If low values are
indicated for all channels, verify that the antenna cable is
connected properly, and that the correct frequencies for the
channel numbers you have selected have been used.
