Syslog messages
Table 4- 4 shows the common Syslog messages generated by
the E5810B.

Message Description
Selftest Passed E5810B has successfully completed its hardware self-test.
rebooting E5810B is about to do a reboot or a factory-reset command.
Max connections exceeded, client IP_address
refused
A client specified by the IP_address was not allowed to connect to the
E5810B because the maximum number of concurrent client connections
on the E5810B has been exceeded. No more than 16 client connections
can be running concurrently on the E5810B and fewer may be allowed,
depending on memory usage for existing clients.
client: <id> <id> Opened
client: <id> <id> Closed
Typical open or close messages (logged each time a client opens or
closes a connection).
client: 156.140.104.184, id: 1 opened
Firmware update: Looking for FTP server Logged prior to trying to do a '1s' command on the FTP server to see if
any data may be fetched.
Firmware update: Beginning firmware update Logged prior to starting to get the file.
Firmware update complete Firmware update was successful. This message is usually not seen, as
the E5810B reboots after download is complete.
ERROR: Firmware update already in progress,
cannot begin update
Tried to begin an update while an update is already in progress.
ERROR: Firmware Update: No DNS server, cannot
use hostname
A hostname was used for the FTP server, but there is no DNS server
configured. Configure a DNS server or use an IP address for the
FTP server.
ERROR: Firmware Update: Hostname not found Could not find hostname. Hostname or DNS server may be invalid.
ERROR: Firmware Update: FTP server not found Could not find FTP server specified.
ERROR: Firmware Update: Invalid User Login or
Password
Login or password is invalid for the FTP server.
ERROR: Firmware Update: Data not received from
FTP server
Could not receive data from the FTP server. May be trying to access FTP
server through a firewall.
