Typical Equipment Setup for External
Detector Linearization
In a typical equipment setup that is used to perform an external
detector linearization calibration, an external directional coupler’s
input is connected to the synthesizer’s RF Output connector. A detector
is connected to the coupler and its output is fed back into the
synthesizer at the EXT ALC connector. (There may also be optional
cabling, switches, amplifiers, or other combinations of hardware
between the RF Output connector and the input to the directional
coupler.)
The directional coupler’s output is connected to a calibrated power
meter. This power meter is used to make the power measurements that
are entered into the external detector linearization calibration routine.
