Operator’s
Check
The Operator’s Check for the Agilent E1326B multimeter consists of
sending the self-test (*TST?) command and checking the return. The
operator’s check can be used at any time to verify the multimeter is
connected properly and is responding to the self-test command.

information on multimeter SCPI commands.
Self-Test
Procedure
1. Verify the multimeter is properly installed in the mainframe and the
mainframe has passed its power-on sequence test.
2. Execute the multimeter functional test using the *TST? command
(see example following).
