Syntax diagram conventions

Solid lines represent the recommended path.
Ovals enclose the short form command mnemonics.
The command mnemonic must be entered exactly as
shown. Ovals are also used to represent discrete
parameters and command separators.
Rectangles enclose the parameters required. Refer to
“Data types and formats” on page 8 for a complete list
of the various data types and formats used throughout
this guide. Rectangles are also used to represent white
space.
Dotted lines indicate an optional path for bypassing
secondary keywords.
Arrows and curved intersections indicate command
path direction.
