Performing Tests
Step 7. Scroll to the Use Reference Radio field and press the knob to toggle it to the desired
mode.
If you select YES, the Test Software will lead you through a step-by-step process that
uses one radio in the face to set a
−
39 dBm reference level at the TX SIG MON jack. The
reference level becomes a known good drive level input to the LAC preamplifier. This
allows the LAC preamplifier to be adjusted properly for the desired output level. Once
the LAC preamplifier is adjusted properly, all other radios may be adjusted by simply
setting the potentiometer on each radio front panel.
Also, if you select Yes, the Do you need assistance? field will appear immediately
below. Press the knob to toggle the field to the desired setting. If you understand the
testing process and wish to have the Test Software perform it as automatically as
possible, select No. If you wish to have the Test Software display informational screens at
appropriate points in the testing process to assist you in performing the operations,
select Yes.
If you select NO, the Test Software will assume that the LAC preamplifier is adjusted
properly for the power level for the face and the power output for each radio defined in
the frequency plan, as measured at the Base Station RF Antenna Port, by adjusting the
potentiometer on the radio front panel.
Step 8. Scroll to the Send Commands to MSC field and press the knob to toggle it to the desired
mode.
Select YES for automated testing using a PC for control.
Select NO to control the Base Station using another method.
Step 9. Press the
k1 (Proceed) key. The Test Software will display prompts to guide you through
a step-by-step process for adjusting the power of each radio in the face. If you selected a
reference radio, the Test Software will also guide you through the process of setting the
reference radio. During the process, the Test Software will display prompts directing you
to make connections, make inputs to the Test Software, turn radios on and off, and make
power adjustments.
Review the Results
At appropriate points in the test, the Test Software will display the measurement
results.
Press the
k1 (Proceed) key when the test is completed to return to the TX
−
39 dBm
Power Test Menu screen.
