Using the 86100C
If the Infiniium DCA has a Problem
If the Infiniium DCA has a Problem
Use the information in this section to help you resolve technical problems with
your Infiniium DCA. Refer to “Avoid changing these Windows system settings”
on page 2-21 to confirm that system settings have not been changed improp-
erly.
WARNING No operator serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified
service personnel. To prevent electrical shock do not remove covers.
Upgrading the
Instrument Software
You can install the latest version of the software for the Infiniium DCA main-
frame. Newer software versions upgrade the operating system of the instru-
ment mainframe and the plug-in modules. The instrument's software can also
be downgraded to a previous version, if needed.
Infiniium DCA Hard
Disk Drive Recovery
The hard drive recovery procedure restores the instrument's hard disk in the
event that files and data have been corrupted. This can happen, for example,
as a result of inadvertent user changes or a computer virus. The procedure for
the 86100C is different from the procedure for the 86100A/B.
On 86100C instruments, the hard disk drive has two partitions: drive C and
drive D. Drive C contains the operating system, the 86100C application, and
any factory installed or user installed applications. Drive C also contains fac-
tory calibration data and application licenses, which are automatically backed
up to drive D. Drive D contains backup files and user files including data files.
If you install an application, such as virus protection, it is recommended, but
not required, that you install it on drive C.
Confirm the Initial
Instrument Settings
Although there are several Windows System settings that can be changed,
avoid changing the settings listed in “Avoid changing these Windows system
settings” on page 2-21, because any changes will interfere with the proper
operation of the Infiniium DCA. Confirm that these setting have not been
changed.
