*IDN (Identification Number)
*IDN (Identification Number)
The *IDN query returns a string value which identifies the instrument type
and firmware version.
An *IDN query must be the last query in a program message. Any queries after
the *IDN query in a program message are ignored.
Usage:
GPIB and RS-232
Query Syntax:
*IDN?
Returned Format:
"HEWLETT-PACKARD 8606XC, 0, VERSION <X.X>"
Where:
<X.X> = firmware revision number
8606XC is the model number and can be 86060C, 86061C, or 86062C.
Example: DIM Id$[50]
OUTPUT 711;"*IDN?"
