Specifications

Autostore records the result of
every acquisition on the display in
half-bright tone. When Autostore is
on, the oscilloscope updates pixel
(display) memory with new acquisi-
tions, but does not erase the results
of previous acquisitions.
Auto trigger mode causes the os-
cilloscope to fill the pre-trigger
buffer, then searches for the trigger
event for a predetermined interval. If
no trigger is found, the oscilloscope
forces a trigger and displays the data
as though the trigger had occurred.
Baseline is a free-running trace on
the display when no signal is applied
and the trigger mode is set to auto or
auto level.
BW Lim (bandwidth limit) limits
the displayed bandwidth of the se-
lected channel to 20 MHz, and is
available for channels 1 and 2. This
feature is useful for viewing noisy sig-
nals.
Control knobs include the
Volts/Div, Time/Div, Delay, Select,
Position, Entry, and display intensity
knob.
Coupling changes the input cou-
pling. Channels 1 and 2 allow dc, ac,
or ground. In the trigger menu, it
toggles between dc and ac for trigger
coupling.
Cursors are horizontal and verti-
cal markers used for making custom
voltage and time measurements,
such as measuring time between par-
ticular points on the display or
numeric values of the currently dis-
played waveforms. The HP 54657A
module also provides access to fre-
quency cursors when FFT is active.
Data acquisition See “Acquisi-
tion.”
Deep Stop describes the last ac-
quisition taken when you press the
STOP key. During this acquisition,
all available memory (1M) is filled,
regardless of the sweep speed.
Delay in main sweep, the Delay
knob moves the sweep horizontally,
and indicates how far the time refer-
ence is from the trigger point. In
delayed sweep the Delay knob
moves the starting point of the por-
tion of the main sweep to be
expanded by the delayed sweep.
Delay time in Main sweep is the
time between the current trigger and
the time reference point. In delayed
sweep, it is the time between the
center of the delayed sweep window
and the time reference position.
